Marie-Claude Chappuis – mezzo-soprano Andrea Wiesli – piano

Twice nominated for a Grammy Award, Marie-Claude Chappuis is one of the most sought-after mezzo-sopranos of her generation. She has also been nominated for a Swiss Music Award and won the Midem Prize. She regularly sings under the baton of the world's greatest conductors, including the role of Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Bach's St. Matthew Passion with Riccardo Chailly, the role of Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas under the baton of Emmanuelle Haïm and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sir Roger Norrington, the role of Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic, and the role of Ottavia in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Staatsoper Berlin and La Monnaie in Brussels under the baton of René Jacobs. She is regularly invited to sing as a soloist with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Il Giardino Armonico, Les Talens Lyriques, and Le Concert d'Astrée. Her vast repertoire and mastery of musical styles ranging from Monteverdi to contemporary works, as well as her wide vocal range, enable her to perform a wide variety of roles and to sing lieder, oratorios, and opera.

Her discography includes several recordings with René Jacobs and the Freiburger Barock Orchester: La Clemenza di Tito, La finta giardiniera, and Mozart's Requiem. With René Jacobs and the Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, she has recorded Bach's Mass in B minor, Telemann's Brockes Passion, and Cavalieri's Rappresentatione di Corpo e Anima. She sings in Bach's St. Matthew Passion with Riccardo Chailly, the Thomanerchor, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Her various solo albums include Sous l'empire d'Amour with lutenist Luca Pianca, Au coeur des Alpes, traditional Swiss songs, Clérambault Les Fables de La Fontaine, and the album Aber die Liebe dedicated to Johannes Brahms with pianist Christian Chamorel and the Sine Nomine quartet. Marie-Claude Chappuis is originally from Broc and Alterswil and lives in Sommentier.

The Thurgau pianist and musicologist Andrea Wiesli is extremely versatile and is always on the lookout for music by forgotten composers. Her rediscoveries, which have been highly acclaimed and praised by the press, can be easily heard on numerous CD recordings. With her musical and literary audio chronicles, such as the current Die Stickerin, based on the novel by Margrit Schriber, she performs successfully on stages throughout Switzerland. As a soloist, this highly sought-after pianist performs with various orchestras throughout Europe, including the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, the Schweizer Jugend-Sinfonie-Orchester, and the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie.Andrea Wiesli is also a passionate chamber musician and lieder accompanist.
