Intro
This winter walk, which starts in the village of Prés-d’Orvin, will take you onto the Chasseral ridge at a height of 1,288 m where a magnificent panorama over Lake Neuchâtel, the plateau and the Alpine chain awaits you.
Description
Starting from the «Les Prés-d’Orvin, Le Grillon» bus stop, this winter walk will take you to the top of the Chasseral (1,288 m above sea level) passing by the «Centre nordique des Prés-d’Orvin-Chasseral». On top you can admire the wonderful panorama over Lake Neuchâtel and, in clear weather, the chain of the Alps. The imposing antenna on the Chasseral, perched at a height of about 1,700 m, can also be seen from there. It is one of the symbols of the Bernese Jura.
To reach the the top of the Chasseral you must first make for the Prêles farm restaurant where you will see Scottish highland cattle; you then pass close to the Bison Ranch where you can admire genuine North American bisons. Shortly thereafter you will arrive at the top of the Jura mountain chain at 1288 meters.
Finally, the descent back to your starting point brings you close to the Évilard farm restaurant (open at week-ends); you then take the road to Chemilles which leads to the village of Prés-d’Orvin through some magnificent countryside typical of the Bernese Jura region.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
