Malfeis
Overview
Intro
This tour is ideally suited as an after-work tour. It is short, featuring interesting and slightly uphill trail sections with wonderful wide-open views as well as fast-flowing and steep but simpler sections downhill that call for the right measure of concentration.
Description
The tour begins in Küblis and follows the course of the pretty Landquart river. After passing secluded spots along the river the trail climbs along short but steep ramps up to Saas. Next up is the climb along the asphalted mountain road towards Madrisa. After some 2 km the route branches off into the Mittelberg. On a fine single trail we cross the mountain slope in a steady uphill climb, and before long we have reached the level of Malfeis.
As we track parallel with the valley there are plenty of views of the Prättigau valley to be glimpsed while following the trail to Malfeis. We then continue on an exciting and fast-flowing downhill trail and alpine track to Plävigin. From the lake of Plävigin to Tälfsch and on down to Küblis the trail is technically demanding but relatively straightforward; nonetheless it does get quite steep. So plenty of concentration is required once again, and it is at speed that we finally return to Küblis.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
