Intro
A perfect excursion with friends or family: starting on the Vounetz, the medium-difficulty sled run winds through snow forests and over Alpine routes. On the way, the run offers a superb panoramic view of the summits of the Moléson, the Dents Vertes and the Jauntal.
Description
Charmey lies at the heart of the Jauntal Valley in an open valley basin in the Fribourg Prealps. The sled descent can easily be reached by gondola lift and begins directly at the ski lift mountain station. The Vounetz is a popular mountain with tourists. Right from the very start, a beautiful view of the Gruyère District, the Moléson, the Dents Vertes mountain range and the Jaunbach Gorge awaits.
Across a distance of just under four kilometres, the sled run negotiates a difference in altitude of 440 metres and meanders down the Vounetz mountain. The course traverses forests and Alps as you speed along the foot of the Dents Vertes mountain range. On the way, you are accompanied at all times by an amazing panoramic view towards Jauntal.
The descent is categorised as moderately difficult to difficult, promising a few adrenaline-pumping moments. The destination is located directly at the “La Scie” chair lift, which brings you back to the summit to start the next sled run. If you want to take a break, you can enjoy regional specialities in the restaurant at the summit.
