Piste des Quatre Bornes
Overview
Intro
This magnificent route between the Cantons of Berne and Neuchâtel boasts a unique panorama over the plateau and the Alps. On a clear day you can even see the peak of Mont Blanc in the far distance.
Description
The Quatre Bornes trail starts at the foot of the Chasseral pass. Right from the start you will be surrounded by huge pine trees along your route. The Vallon du Creux Joly will then take you towards the vast Échelette grasslands. The summit of the Chasseral and its famous antenna are gradually revealed behind you.
You now arrive at the most strenuous part of the journey - the climb towards the area known as "les Quatre Bornes" after walking around Bec à l’oiseau by Derrière Pierre-Pertuis. From Quatre Bornes you will have an unrestricted view over la Chaux-de-Fonds, Lake Neuchâtel, the Alps and even Mont Blanc. Finally, after turning in the direction of Savagnières, you will see the Mont-Crosin wind turbines reaching impressively towards the Jura sky. During the week-end the Clochette bar and restaurant will quench your thirst and fill your stomach before you return to your starting point.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
