Runda Lai
Overview
Intro
For those, who prefer to go downhill instead of uphill, this tour is for you. The trail down the southeast flank of Parpan Rothorn makes every freerider's heart beat faster.
Description
Runda Lai is not a lake tour in the classic sense. All the trails around the lake are single trails and - with the help of cable cars and gondolas – at an altitude between 2000 meters and the lake level. From Lenzerheide, the route leads east of the Heidsee directly to the Rothorn cable car which provides an easy 500-metre altitude gain.
From the Scharmoin middle station, named after the alp, the route climbs gently uphill over the Ochsenälpli up to 2000 metres - the starting point for the first descent. The hard-surfaced panoramic trail leads past alpine pastures, flowering meadows and a few forest passages.
Back down in Churwalden, the gondola takes the bikers back up to Heidbüel. The view of the Rothorn's eastern flank and of Lenzerheide is magnificent. During the rest of the ride the valley and the lake are almost always visible. An exciting mix of Alpine roads and single trails leads from Stätzertäli via Spoina directly to the lake and back to the starting point.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
