Overview
Intro
Beautiful circular tour through several Tarasp hamlets - Florins, Chaposch and Valatscha – featuring authentic Engadine houses. It then carries on through colourful larch forests and moorscapes and includes a stop by peaceful Lai Nair (lake) and a visit to impressive Tarasp Castle.
Description
The circular tour around Tarasp is particularly suitable for leisure riders and families. The route, which boasts a succession of scenic highlights, requires intermediate level technical skills. From Vulpera you first ride along the golf course and then continue via a narrow old «Kurpromenade» up to Florins from where you can enjoy a view of Ftan located opposite. From there you take a dirt track to the hamlets of Chaposch and Valatscha both of which, with their stunning old Engadine houses, are architectural highlights.
Then the route continues up through the larch forests, which are golden in autumn, to the Val Plavna. From there a forest road leads past sulphur springs down to the hamlet of Fontana. The route then follows a melioration trail up to the moorscape around Lai Nair and from there on through the forest to Avrona. In Avrona there is a small restaurant, which, with its wonderful view of Ftan and Sent, is the perfect place to stop off for refreshments.
Finally, a brisk descent takes you back to Vulpera. On a track, especially built for bikers, we enter the forest. This is immediately followed by a steep downhill. The snappy and fast single trail leads around trees, over roots and stones. With well-developed bends and turns, it spoils us all the way down to the starting point in Vulpera.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
