Trail Run Le Moléson

Intro
Running up Le Moléson is an easy way to escape from the city. Up top, you can enjoy panorama views over the lakes and plains below, as well as higher summits further in the distance.
Description
An hour or less from Fribourg, Lausanne, and Montreux, Le Moléson is a popular summit that is accessible by funicular railway and cable car. Overlooking the Fribourg region and Lake Geneva, with views of the Bernese and Valais Alps, more Pre-Alp peaks, and the long Jura crest on the horizon, it’s easy to see why people are so attracted to this mountain. It’s a bustling summit with a restaurant, observatory, and a great picnic area.
From Plan Francey at the top of the funicular, run up the forest trail, along farm roads and the first switchbacks to arrive at Le Moléson (2,002m). From there, a grassy ridge leads to Teysachaux (1,909m), a slightly lower but more technical summit. The way up to the peak is rocky and steep, but relatively short.
Once you’re down from Teysachaux, a straight traverse takes you through pastures and farms with wood-shingled roofs before one more climb back up to meet the main hiking trail. Most of the run is on the less travelled trails between the two summits.
Tip from ALPSinsight: Another way to reach the top of Le Moléson is by the two via ferrata routes on its north face.
