Winterwanderweg Tenna
Overview
Intro
The circular hiking trail with a view of the Piz Beverin showcases the unique Safien Valley mountains, as well as the innovative mountain village of Tenna with the world’s first solar ski lift. Visitors are sure to spot the solar cells on many of the rooftops.
Description
The pleasant and spectacular hiking tour starts in the «Mitte» part of Tenna, between the other two hamlets that make up the village – Innerberg and Ausserberg. From here, hikers first follow the road to the church that dominates the villagescape and is well worth a visit. Embellished with very well-preserved frescos and a wonderfully painted wooden ceiling, it is designated as a monument of national importance.
The next highlight on the hike is the world’s first solar ski lift, powered by 82 solar wings consisting of three panels each. In sunny weather, it can also feed electricity into the Safien Valley’s municipal power grid.
Sloping gently uphill, the trail passes the final houses of Ausserberg and leads back towards Mitte in an elevated location. Hikers now enjoy a clear view of the striking Piz Beverin and the Safien Valley mountains as they hike over the rolling terrain to Innerberg. Their perspective on the three hamlets of Tenna constantly changes until they finally arrive back at the starting point in Mitte.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
