Overview
The most beautiful Swiss panoramic trains – experience Switzerland train by train TRAVEL SWITZERLAND TRAIN BY TRAIN Did you know that Switzerland is a real insider tip when it comes to luxury panoramic train travel? Switzerland offers you a variety of landscapes that you won’t find anywhere else in Europe. Breathtaking mountain scenery with high, steep rock faces, lush green forests and flower meadows, deep valleys and sparkling rivers and lakes with charming small towns and big cities along their shores reveal themselves during your luxury panoramic train journey through Switzerland in all their beauty. Thanks to the large panoramic windows, you’re right in the middle of the scenery. More emotions? Impossible! You travel over mountain passes that you can’t even reach by car. You see light again after the darkness of a superlative tunnel. And sometimes you think you’re hallucinating. No, that’s not true! You’re seeing the church of Wassen on the Gotthard – really three times in a row. Slowly, the train gains height in the spiral tunnel. The most famous panoramic train is certainly the already legendary Glacier Express. The route from St. Moritz to Zermatt climbs up and down again, crossing as many bridges as it is 291 km long. The Glacier Express crosses two major European watersheds between the catchment areas of the western Mediterranean (Rhône), the Atlantic (Rhine) and the Black Sea (Danube), and ends near the watershed crossed by the Bernina Railway to the Adriatic. In addition to the already legendary Glacier and Bernina Express connection from Zermatt via Andermatt, Chur and St. Moritz to Tirano (373 km), there are other direct connections right through the heart of Switzerland. With the Treno Gottardo, you travel from Basel (303 km) or Zurich (234 km) via the Gotthard mountain route to Locarno. The Gotthard Panorama Express uses the same route for 191 km, but ends in Lugano in the heart of Ticino. From the high mountains to the palm trees in the valley, not only the Gotthard Panorama Express with its unique train-and-ship combination, the Treno Gottardo, but also the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano travel. If the railway had existed back then, the two sadly most difficult Alpine crossings of the war heroes Hannibal and Suvorov would have been much easier. The 129 km long direct Golden Panorama Express connection between Montreux, Gstaad and Interlaken is also not to be outdone in terms of scenery. Combined with the Interlaken-Lucerne Express, the journey is even more beautiful. Passing Lake Brienz and over the Brünig Pass, you reach Lucerne on Lake Lucerne after a further 79 km. The Voralpen-Express is quite different. Here you discover a different Switzerland. It’s a Switzerland of gentle hills, picturesque villages and lovely orchards. At the end, you reach some of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland, Lucerne and St. Gallen. your Reise365.com – adventure The most beautiful Swiss panoramic trains in stunning Alpine scenery Train journey on the UNESCO World Heritage route over the Bernina Pass genuine Schwyzer hospitality typical Schwyzer coziness 7 Swiss panoramic trains combined in one journey Bern, the capital of Switzerland Lucerne, perhaps the most beautiful city in Switzerland Train journey on the legendary Glacier Express St. Gallen: UNESCO World Heritage Site Ticino: Switzerland’s Mediterranean gem the 57 km long Gotthard Base Tunnel Swiss prestigious Belle Époque steamship fleet Travel itinerary Day 1 Arrival in Switzerland: Lucerne / Lake Lucerne Day 2 Gotthard Panorama Express Day 3 Voralpen Express, St. Gallen and Appenzell Day 4 GoldenPass Line: Lucerne, Montreux, Geneva Day 5 Geneva: The symbol of the “smallest metropolis in the world” Day 6 Geneva -> Brig -> Chur (Glacier Express) Day 7 Bernina Express: From the mountains to the palm trees Day 8 Experience the UNESCO Albula mountain route Day 9 Return home “Uf Widerluege id Schwiiz”
