Ticino Ticket – Free public transport in Ticino
Overview
Intro
From 2017 onward, guests staying in hotels, youth hostels or campgrounds will be able to use public transportation in the Canton of Ticino free of charge.
Upon arrival at the hotel, a day pass worth over CHF 50 will be handed out, which will be valid until the day of departure. This gives tourists the opportunity to explore every corner of the canton by public transport. The main focus of the project is on sustainable mobility, which will benefit the environment in two ways: Private car traffic will be reduced and public transportation strengthened. In addition, the inauguration of the Gotthard base tunnel in December 2016 has shorten the SBB journey to Ticino. This will enable guests to benefit from attractive opportunities for a long weekend or a holiday in southern Switzerland.
