The Four Cats of Berghotel Schatzalp in Davos

Schatzalp is home to four charming feline residents. Bella, the black queen, has reigned over the hotel since 2008 and is treated like royalty—complete with party hats for her birthday! Ginny & Johnny, born in 2022, are an inseparable pair. Ginny adores belly rubs, while Johnny happily shares his basket. Dmitra, born in 2023, is a curious little explorer who loves to tease Bella. Guests adore the cats—some even return to Schatzalp just to see them!

Peppa – The Cat of Eiger Lodge in Grindelwald

For seven years, Peppa the tomcat has called Eiger Lodge home—and he spends most of his time sleeping. His favorite activity? Eating! Especially at 5 a.m., when breakfast preparations begin, he meows loudly for his share. Guests and staff adore him—he loves being petted and creates countless special moments. For many, Peppa is the hotel’s hidden highlight!

Four-year-old Pedro was adopted two years ago and has since become an inseparable part of the Konzett host family. With his friendly nature, he wins everyone over—so much so that in Grindelwald, you often hear: “Oh, he is so cute!” A true crowd favorite!

The Many Animals of Kartause Ittingen

At Kartause Ittingen, self-sufficiency is a way of life. In spring, sheep delight visitors, trout swim in the small fish farm, hens provide fresh eggs for breakfast, and cows supply milk to the nearby cheese dairy. The surrounding area is also home to birds, amphibians, squirrels, and bats that inhabit the historic walls.

Tortoises at Hotel Schweizerhof Lenzerheide

Since 2019, a small tortoise family has lived in the children’s club Andalina at Hotel Schweizerhof. Mimi, Seppel, Hatschi, Brummbär, and Schlafmütz are lovingly cared for by Regula. Through observation, children learn how to treat tortoises with respect. The animals enjoy being watched and are particularly curious when they see red clothing. In winter, they hibernate, but in spring, they return to greet young visitors once again.

Beatrice – The Hedgehog at LuganoDante

As part of its sustainability program, LuganoDante has partnered with local organizations such as Amici del Riccio to create a dedicated space for a hedgehog care station. Under the guidance of agronomists from FutureFarmers, injured hedgehogs receive the help they need to recover. Currently, the sweet hedgehog Beatrice is being cared for—due to her impaired vision, she will stay a little longer before being released back into the wild.

The Bees of Baur au Lac, Zurich

Since 2016, around 80,000 honeybees have called the park at Baur au Lac home, living in a mini-hotel modeled after the main hotel. On their daily flights, they gather nectar from the gardens and green spaces around the city, producing the sweet and floral Baur au Lac honey. This honey is served for breakfast at the hotel and can also be enjoyed by guests at home.

Bubu - The Cat of Deltapark Vitalresort

Even before it opened in 2016, the Deltapark Vitalresort was Bubu the cat's territory. Bubu made the hotel on Lake Thun his home without hesitation. Initially, he wasn't permitted inside, so he would curl up in blankets on the terrace of the Deltalounge & Bar. Today, he is an integral part of everyday life at the hotel. This quiet, cuddly eleven-year-old tomcat rarely meows – unless he is hungry. He loves eating, sleeping and enjoying cuddles. On the other hand, playing hardly interests him. Occasionally, however, he displays his hunting instinct by bringing home one of his trophies. His favourite places? The reception desk, which is ideal for a spontaneous nap, or the back office, where he likes to lounge on the computer keyboard.

Siva Follows Charlie – The Cats of UTO KULM, Zurich

After the passing of Charlie the cat, it became clear that a hotel cat was essential! For the past six months, Siva (8 years old) has been part of the UTO KULM family. Once an indoor cat, she now eagerly explores her new domain and enjoys hunting. Confident and charming, Siva greets guests at the entrance, sleeps in the office, and keeps a watchful eye over the hotel from the reception area. A four-legged character with plenty of personality!
