"Die Grüne Fee" (The Green Fairy) is Switzerland's first legal absinthe bar, and it is located here in Solothurn. Absinthe was discovered in the Val-de-Travers in the mid-18th century, and it soon became the "in" drink of the Paris bohemians. The green fairy was banned in most European countries at the start of the 20th century but it survived underground for nearly 100 years.
