Bees & Friends at Schloss Wartegg
Overview
Intro
Our Schloss bees have found a permanent home in a sheltered corner of the expansive 13-hectare English park surrounding Schloss Wartegg. With great care and attention, they are looked after by our gardeners. The bees build their honeycombs entirely on their own, following natural methods, so there is no need for any chemical aids such as moth repellents. Harvesting takes place gently, at most once a year.
The park’s species-rich wildflower meadows provide the bees—and many other insects—with a diverse and natural source of nourishment. To support biodiversity, the meadows are mown only once or twice a year, preferably by hand with a scythe.
