In the footsteps of Annemarie Schwarzenbach
Overview
Intro
This three-day tour of the Upper Engadin follows in the footsteps of the Swiss traveller, writer and photographer.
The hike is dedicated to Annemarie Schwarzenbach, one of the most colourful figures in Swiss cultural history. The photos and texts by the photographer and writer document the violent upheavals of her time, but also personal issues, such as dislocation and homosexuality. After extensive exploration of the Middle East, Central Asia, the USA, and Central and North Africa, Annemarie Schwarzenbach returned to her home in Sils Baselgia, where she rented a house on Lake Sils for herself and her friends. The three-day hike in the Upper Engadin takes the group past majestic mountain lakes at the base of the Albula range, the Bernina range and the Morteratsch glacier.
