Visitors encounter works by the Winterthur sculptor Erwin Schatzmann throughout the city. His style is easily recognised; his creations can be found in public spaces as well as private gardens.
His bench in the Kirchplatz square is especially popular – and there’s an additional seating opportunity by the sculptor at Hegi Castle. The highly original artist is also famous for his initiative to give the city its own lake. Schatzmann has made his home and workshop, Morgenland, accessible to the public: "Morgenland Off Space" is a collection of cabins, made of recycled building materials and sculptures by the artist, on the edge of Winterthur. The site can be booked for guided tours and events.
