High above the Unteraar Glacier, the hut lies at 2393-meter altitude on a rocky outcrop in the Grimsel region.
The climb to this mountain hut presents itself exciting. The mountain trail marked white-red-white (SAC T2 and T3) goes from Grimsel Hospice or Summerloch to the Lauteraarhütte in around four hours, without having to step foot on the glacier. Those who tackle this hiking path along the northern shore of Lake Grimsel will be richly rewarded with wild and rare natural beauties (such as stone pines, upland moors and rare flora). And having accomplished the way to the hut you’re suddenly aware what the talk of mountain hut magic “Hüttenzauber” is all about.
