Intro

Lake Fallboden is located at an altitude of about 2,100 metres above sea level on Fallboden hill, where the ski lifts between the stations Kleine Scheidegg and Eigergletscher are located. From its ideal location directly below the Eiger and Mönch, it reflects the twin mountains on the lake’s surface. The chapel-like building on the lake shore is now a memorial hall honouring the famous route of the Eiger ascent.

Lake Fallboden at a glance

To mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Jungfrau Railway, the “Eiger Walk” was established as an easy hiking route that follows the railway line from the Eiger Glacier via Lake Fallboden to Kleine Scheidegg. The Eiger Walk is a popular route that leads through spectacular Alpine scenery and at the same time recalling the famous Eiger and the daring summit ascents.
