This village was destroyed in 563, when the landslide of the place called "Tauredunum" caused a devastating tidal wave on Lake Geneva. Founded by Bishop Marius, the new parish has gradually given its name to the reconstituted village. The ruins of Glerula's villa can be visited in the basement of the church.
