Chemin Saignelégier–Le Noirmont
Overview
Intro
This hike from Saignelégier leads you to Le Noirmont through the typical scenery of the Jura. The route allows you to discover the capital of the Franches-Montagnes, Saignelégier, well known for its Marché-Concours National de chevaux (National Horse Show).
Description
The walk starts at the Marché Concours market building, located a few minutes on foot from Saignelégier railway station. This is where the famous horse show, le Marché Concours, takes place every August. The path starts out heading south. You will cross the pasturelands and follow the cross-country ski piste until you reach the hamlet of Les Emibois, where you'll be able to take a well-deserved rest.
On your way to Les Emibois, you'll see the village of Muriaux and some of the typical farms of the Jura. Then join the walking path again, still heading south across fields until you reach the village of Le Noirmont. Many of the restaurants in Le Noirmont will let you freshen up and catch your breath after the walk through the heart of the Franches-Montagnes.
The route is clear and very sunny on good days. The gentle gradient makes this walk accessible for everyone.
