Curnius-Schlittelweg
Overview
Intro
Enjoy a rapid descent from Curnius to Falera with a beautiful view of the Signina chain and the Rhine Valley. The toboggan run passes by traditional alpine pastures and the well-known Mirasteilas observatory.
Description
Falera stands on a sunny terrace on the left flank of the Anterior Rhine Valley. One of the mountain village’s famous attractions is the Parc la Mutta from the Bronze Age (1600-1200 BC). This is Switzerland’s largest and most significant megalithic site and subject to archaeological protection.
Starting from Falera, the oldest village in the Laax ski resort and the smallest in terms of area, sledgers take a comfortable chairlift ride to Curnius. This is where the descent back to the valley station begins with a view across the Rhine Valley and towards Obersaxen. The twisting toboggan run is open every day, snow conditions permitting. Passing by alpine pastures, it follows the route of the chairlift at first before taking a wide turn towards the forest.
The final third of the route runs close by Mirasteilas, the largest observatory in Switzerland open to the public. Wonderful, starry night skies are always on show here – and of course, you can also experience them on a night-time sledging run.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
