Schneeschuhtrail Ober Altösch
Overview
Intro
This varied snowshoe tour starts in Trub in the Emmental valley. It leads through snow-covered forests and pastures in the hilly terrain of the Napf region. The winter scenery and the far-reaching views over the Emmental hilltops make for an unforgettable experience.
Description
Typical furrows and gentle slopes, a widely interwoven network of hiking trails and pretty vantage points - these are the impressive features of this easy, varied snowshoe trail which starts at the former Ried schoolhouse.
Always along the stream you approach the farms of Unter and Ober Häusern where you turn off and begin a gentle ascent through the forest to Hüserenweid. Traversing a pasture and a clearing, the route then leads more steeply uphill to the Vorder Kohleren farmstead. A pleasant forest path, which now hardly climbs at all, then heads towards the Kohlern farm.
In the gentle ups and downs typical of the hilly landscape of the Emmental, you pass the highest point of the hike at 1150 metres above sea level. Towering over the seemingly endless range of hills, which is characterised by a mosaic of forests, valleys and snow-covered meadows, the panorama of the Bernese alps opens up.
Heading north, the view follows the Fankhusgraben, where the Napf with its striking mountain lodge can be seen at the back. On reaching the Oberaltösch alp, the restaurant with its cosy farmhouse atmosphere invites you to take a break.
After some refreshments, the descent is tackled. The path leads steadily down past the farms of Neuscheuer and Schneidershausäbnit. To both right and left, you look out over the wooded ditches and scattered settlements which line the valley floor. The last section is easy and level. The trail follows the unassuming Fankhusbach stream which shaped the open valley in the course of the centuries.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
