Winterwanderweg Eggberge-Fleschsee

From Altdorf, you take a nine-minute cable car ride up to 1,450 metres to the sunny Eggberge terrace. From the mountain station, the groomed circular trail leads past the Lady chapel, which is both a place of worship and an important cultural meeting place. After visiting the chapel, you walk through the scattered settlement of Eggberge, with its typical wooden buildings. A small wood turner’s workshop and a brewery bear witness to its roots in both craftsmanship and culinary tradition.

From the ski lift mountain station, you continue through the snow-covered spruce forest to the highest point of the tour: Hüenderegg at 1,874 metres. The open-air summit gives you a full panoramic view – across the Swiss Plateau, the surrounding peaks of the Prealps and the fjord-like Lake Uri.

A short descent takes you down to the Flesch Kiosk – the perfect place to stop for refreshments. The way back then winds gently downwards through an enchanting snow-covered landscape, with views of the Uri Reusstal valley, Lake Uri, the Schächental valley and large sections of the Central Swiss Alps. You can round off the day in a relaxed atmosphere at the Berggasthaus Eggberge restaurant or at a bistro.

The winter hiking trail can easily be followed in either direction.
