Circular hike: Filzbach - Talalpsee - Habergschwänd

High above the Walensee at the valley station of the Filzbach - Habergschwänd chairlift, we lace up our hiking shoes before tackling the wonderful trail. The breathtaking panoramic view of the Walensee and the surrounding mountains is our constant companion right from the start. We continue further up the trail towards Talalp. A quick detour to the Talalpsee lake, a haven of tranquillity amidst a wildly romantic mountain landscape at 1,100m above sea level, is well worth it. You can cool off by taking a plunge into the lake if you like. The cosy Restaurant Talalpsee is situated right by the lake and serves up satisfying food and drink.

After this invigorating mountain lake experience, the last stage leads up to the Habergschwänd upper station. Recharge one last time in the Habergschwänd mountain inn before making your way back down into the valley and to Filzbach by chairlift or scooter.

Schwanden, Free Mountain Kärpf. Berghotel Mettmen

Berghotel Mettmen is situated in the heart of the Glarnerland, at an altitude of 1,600 metres, and impresses guests with its unique character: it is down-to-earth and uncomplicated like a hut, while also providing the pleasant modern-day conveniences of a hotel.

The bright rooms, featuring plenty of wood, intentionally do without televisions and lots of furniture, thereby promoting communication between guests. Hikers, nature lovers and mountaineers meet here, as well as fishermen, seminar participants and even wedding parties. This should come as no surprise, since the combination of nature, activities and indulgence in Glarus specialities is simply perfect.
