The culture summer is complemented by exclusive garden tours under the title "Hortus Conclusus – 900 Years of Life in the Rhythm of Nature."
The monastery garden serves as a reflection of monastic stability. While the world outside the walls changes faster and faster, it has followed the same cycle of becoming and perishing for centuries – characterized by tranquility, rhythm, and continuity.
Even though garden maintenance is largely taken over by secular staff today, the monastery garden Engelberg contains much experience and knowledge. Not everything that grows in the lowlands thrives in the high valley at 1000 meters above sea level.
In the context of a guided tour, Monika Amstad, managing director of the monastery garden, and Brother Thomas Stingelin OSB will introduce the garden culture of the monastery. They will again be accompanied this year by Daniela Kaiser, who has been managing the monastery garden of the Capuchin Sisters in Stans for three years.

Monastery gate, main entrance to the monastery, please enter, start inside the monastery on the ground floor.
