Around 1830 in Paris, a group of young artists live in poverty but carefree: the writer Rodolfo, the painter Marcello, the musician Schaunard, and the philosopher Colline. On a cold Christmas Eve, Rodolfo is left alone to finish an article when Mimì, a young and attractive dressmaker, knocks on his door. Love blossoms between the two, and Rodolfo convinces her to join him and his friends...
