Prof. Orfeo Mandozzi and his cello masterclass present:
On Saturday, 17 October 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the Associazione MUSICA al CUORE invites audiences to a special concert in the Church of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina. Together with seven young musicians from his cello masterclass at Zurich University of the Arts, Prof. Orfeo Mandozzi presents the extraordinary expressive power and rich tonal diversity of the cello.
The programme spans a broad musical arc from Johann Sebastian Bach through Max Bruch, Antonín Dvořák, Maurice Ravel and George Gershwin to Arturo Márquez. Baroque intimacy meets Romantic expressiveness, French tonal colours, American jazz and the captivating rhythms of Latin America.
Special highlights include the overture from Gershwin’s opera Porgy and Bess and Márquez’s spirited Danzón No. 2. Performing in varying formations of four, five and eight cellos, the masterclass students join their professor in demonstrating their artistry and passion for the instrument.

The result is a vibrant musical dialogue between an experienced master and the next generation – entirely in keeping with the mission of MUSICA al CUORE to foster young talent and make classical music accessible to everyone.
Admission is free – everyone is warmly welcome. Music that connects – in a place of stillness that inspires. Following the concert, all guests are warmly invited to an aperitif and an opportunity to meet and mingle.
