What dirty business is hidden behind the shiny facade of Zurich's financial center? Who benefits - and who pays the price?

The Zurich regional group of Public Eye invites you to take a critical walk through the heart of the Swiss banking industry. At six stops from Lindenhof along Bahnhofstrasse to Bürkliplatz, we will immerse ourselves in the past and present of one of the world's most important financial centers.

The tour begins in the 19th century, when the foundations of modern banking were laid - and ends with the question of what a more sustainable financial policy might look like. We shed light on how banking secrecy came about and what role it plays in tax evasion and money laundering. We ask what interests politicians are pursuing - and whose interests are falling by the wayside. And we take a look when things get uncomfortable: at dubious transactions and investments; at legal but questionable deals; at a profit-driven financial system whose effects shape the lives of millions of people in the Global South.

No prior knowledge necessary. Just curiosity and a willingness to ask critical questions.
