From moated castle to architectural monument
Overzicht
Inleiding
Public guided tour on the history of the building.
On this tour, visitors discover details of the buildings that bear witness to the heyday and decline of Hallwyl: They learn how the artificial islands were created 700 years ago, why it burned to the ground in 1415 and how the complex was transformed into a prestigious castle.
A glamorous conversion around 1870 lasted only a short time before the then owners Wilhelmina and Walter von Hallwyl had everything rebuilt and the castle became a listed building.
