Inleiding
You can also enjoy cross-country skiing in Aargau: in the natural arena of Moos near Leutwil for example. The loop with several challenging uphill and downhill sections first crosses an open landscape before taking you around the edge of the wood.
Beschrijving
The village of Leutwil is situated in the Homberg hills in the area of a lateral moraine, which was created during the Ice Age as a result of the retreat of the Reuss glacier. Lüpu, as Leutwil is known by the locals, can be accessed from the west via Teufenthal – Dürrenäsch, via Zetzwil by passing Wampfle and from the east via Boniswil.
The natural arena of Moos, where the run is created when there is sufficient snow, is an idyllic and calm plateau south east of the farming village. The landscape on the hills between the Wynental valley and Seetal valley is open and rambling. The area is relatively flat and is thus put to extensive agricultural use in the summer. In the winter months, the ski-run manager goes out on his snowmobile and creates a track of around three kilometres with a loop on the eastern slope. The run thus includes a few technically challenging downhill sections. Anyone who wants to avoid them, though, can take various shortcuts.
After a gentle climb, parts of the second half of the ski run lead you around the edge of the wood. You will cross the Mühlebach stream several times in the process. This was renatured between 1989 and 2015 and crosses the entire municipal area. The start and finish is the Schützenhaus Leutwil where you can also park your car.

Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
