Intro
Immediately above the bend of the Rhone near Martigny, between Ovronnaz and Morcles.
It offers accommodation during the panoramic multi-day hike «Tour des Muverans» between the cantons of Vaud and Valais. Long access routes from Ovronnaz (4 hours), Fully (6 hours) or Champex d'Alesse (Gondola Lift Dorénaz, 4 1/2 hours). There are 30 beds with duvets in summer, when the hut is manned. In the winter there are 12 beds. Access in heavy snow is accomplished through the window under the roof!
The origin of the name is unclear. Perhaps Demècre is derived from «du mercredi» (Wednesday Hut).
