The Alpfahrt is still an important day of celebration for farmers today. The cattle are ceremoniously driven down into the valley. And in Urnäsch there is the traditional farmers' market.

The traditional Wiler Fastnacht starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday with the big carnival parade through the town. Children's masked ball, court jester's ball, monster concert & endless parties.

Music will once again be played at three festival sites and in various restaurants in the village center of Appenzell at the beginning of August.
