Responsibility and Constraint
Aristotle left us a paradox regarding coercion: we are responsible for the wrong actions we choose to commit; we are not responsible for what we do under coercion; yet it is possible to choose to commit a wrong action under coercion. We will have to reject one of these three statements, even though they all seem intuitive, since they are mutually inconsistent. In doing so, we will be able to shed light on the nature of responsibility and clearly distinguish it from guilt.
