To underline its 20th anniversary, the Coro Lirico di Lugano will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s “Requiem.
To underline its 20th anniversary, the Coro Lirico di Lugano will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s “Requiem.” This is a rare opportunity to listen to a unique work that combines the sacredness of the catholic liturgy with the pathos of opera, creating a masterpiece of extraordinary power. Verdi’s “Requiem” holds a special place in the opera repertoire due to its grandeur and profound emotional impact. No special musical skills or knowledge of Latin are required to fully immerse oneself in this experience. The booming trumpets and the whisper of pleading voices are enough to draw you in.
It will be performed by the Coro Lirico di Lugano together with other choirs and guest singers, as well as four internationally well renowned soloists. The ensemble of approximately seventy professional musicians consists of instrumentalists from well known orchestras such as the OSI, the Teatro alla Scala, and other opera houses in northern Italy. Maestro Andrea Cupia will serve as the musical director.
