Intro

Although this tour does not go quite as high as its name sug-gests, you will be biking high above Lake Lucerne and at times looking down over a 400m high rockface at the land-scape below.

Description

A view over Lake Lucerne, the two Mythen and the Rigi greet you during this tour. The easy biketour will win you over with its many viewpoints rather than with its technical challenges.

After a gentle start, past the Kreuzkapelle towards Seelisberg, we reach Brennwald. Here it goes straight onto a gravel road, which is wide enough to ride next to each other – as long as you don’t meet someone coming in the other direction. Time and again we catch a glimpse of Lake Lucerne, 600m below us – a real pleasure.

But then it gets serious. A great single trail leads you for 3km down over roots, rocks and meadows. Take a break by the Maria Sonnenberg Chapel overlooking the Rütli meadow and the mighty Bristen. Don’t forget your swimming things, an idyllic mountain lake in Seelisberg is 1 km away and perfect for a quick dip to cool down. There is another short, steep ascent leading you back up into the woods before heading back to Emmetten, the way you came.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
