Intro
The wine trail passes through the vineyards of Weinfelden, Boltshausen and Ottoberg. More than 30 information boards along the way share fascinating facts about vines, types of grape, vinification and winegrowers.
Description
Weinfelden is a unique region and has so much more to offer than just fruit and vegetable cultivation – such as exceptional gastronomy and outstanding wines in all their great and perhaps surprising variety. Those walking the wine trail will find themselves astounded by sweeping views of the Thurtal valley and Alps. The various attractions, stops and information boards along the wine trail are dedicated to wine, local winegrowers, restaurateurs and partners. Visitors can indulge in Thurgau delicacies at the restaurants and taverns along the wayside.
Special highlight of this route is the wine safe. On opening the safe with a code found in the wine trail rucksack, hikers will be able to enjoy some delicious fine wines. The chilled wines are brought up from the depths by a hydraulic pump. The practical wine trail rucksack contains wine glasses, bread and the code to create an all-round perfect experience. It is available at the railway station counter in Weinfelden.
Getting there: by train from Zurich or St. Gallen to Weinfelden, or by car or bike.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
