Panorama Bike
Overview
Intro
On the third stage of the Panorama Bike route, there are high mountain passes to conquer for the first time – Schwägalp and Risipass to name just two.
Description
Before the masses of tourists arrive in Appenzell it is best to leave the picturesque village, heading in the direction of Weissbad and climbing along the foot of the Säntis via Potersalp to Schwägalp. On the way up it is rare to come across anybody, but Schwägalp is generally a beehive of activity. If you’re up early, take the gondola for a side trip to the peak and the phenomenal panoramic views. Otherwise leave the bustle behind and head up to Lütisalp where you will likely be by yourself again. And most of the time, the scenery on the Risipass is all yours too, although nowhere else are the huge cliffs of the Säntis closer than here. Take another look at the peak before leaving, zooming down to Stein and today’s destination.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
