St.-Karl-Ibergeregg-Rundweg
Overview
Intro
This winter hike across the high St. Karl and Oberberg plateaus guarantees some truly impressive views. Enjoy the mountains of central Schwyz as you pass snow-topped coniferous forests and craggy rock formations.
Description
High above the little village of Illgau, the circular hike starts by the St. Karl mountain station. The route runs through open coniferous woodlands and past craggy rock formations and traditional Alpine huts. The two high plateaus of St. Karl and Oberberg promise breathtaking views and an atmosphere of complete calm. The winter hiking trail follows the Ibergeregg pass, offering uninterrupted views of the Schwyz valley basin and the Stoos-Muotatal region.
Things get a little livelier in the ski area below the Ibergeregg pass, before the trail leads you back to quieter surroundings. The mountains of Central Switzerland and the panoramic views soon make you forget the strenuous climb. The route back downhill takes you past Grossenboden to your original starting point at St. Karl.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
