Trans-Altarezia Bike
Overview
Intro
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who has the fairest lake of all? Val di Camp, of course - with Lagh da Saoseo, located along the legendary downhill run from Pass da Val Viola to Poschiavo on the fourth day of the Trans-Altarezia route.
Description
Arnoga is situated at the foot of Pass da Val Viola, or in other words: it is uphill right from the start. A small asphalt road runs up Val Viola, then changes to a gravel road and finally the last section is a cart path from World War I. The effort is well worth it. The descending road is made especially for mountain bikers and meanders through the rough mountain area down to Lagh da Viola. So this is where one of the most beautiful lakes of Switzerland is supposed to be. Lagh da Viola very well might be: surrounded by rugged mountains reflected on the smooth surface, a small islet full of larch trees. The scenery is definitely gorgeous. The route continues to a cluster of buildings, past Lagh da Saoseo, but a side trip to the mountain lake is mandatory, because this is the lake that is called the most beautiful in Switzerland. If anything, it is even more charming than Lagh da Viola further up, the water is green and it nestles perfectly into the wooded landscape.
The path finally leads downhill in the direction of Poschiavo with excellent single trail sections, even if it does include two ascents, each of about 150 meters. On the bright side, the downhill ride ends directly in the middle of Poschiavo. And after the most beautiful lake in Switzerland, the centre of Poschiavo could easily be one of the most attractive in Switzerland.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
