Intro

Immerse into the depths of the earth at the place of the former Silberberg mining works. The exciting story of the mining industry is also vividly told in the Grisons mining museum.

The open cast mining museum is inside the historic administrative building of the former open cast mining community of Schmelzboden-Hoffnungsbau, close to the railways station Davos Monstein. The building originates from the turn of the 19th century. The museum contains exhibits such as open cast mining equipment, models, documents, plans and photos as well as ores from various former open pits right across the canton. The exhibition is supplemented by an audio-visual presentation, which provides an impression of the early industry in Grisons. Unique is the addition of the calcite and rock quartz exhibits.

Diverse guided tours also take place at the visitors mine.
