Intro

Magnetic resonance imaging delivers cross-sectional images of the body which provide information on organ structures and function.

Unlike CT scans, no X-rays are used. A magnetic field and radio waves are used instead. This is a more gentle radiological procedure which can also be used on pregnant women and children. Its area of application is broad and ranges from individual parts of the body and soft tissues to whole-body MRI scans. It is often used to investigate cancer, inflammatory conditions or joint damage.
