Where history meets the present: the freshly renovated Aarwangen Castle invites you to discover, marvel and linger.
In the heart of the Oberaargau region, Aarwangen Castle opens its gates to visitors of all ages – and surprises with a diverse mix of past and future. Once home to Bernese bailiffs, the castle now features multimedia exhibitions that bring the region’s history and economic development to life. A playfully designed children's area, exciting escape rooms, interactive VR experiences and a cosy castle café with a riverside terrace complete the experience.
Spread over several floors, the exhibition links the past with the present. The first floor introduces historical figures from the region, while the second floor looks ahead to the world of work in the digital age – with thought-provoking, interactive elements.
Families can enjoy the charming children's castle under the sloped roof, guided by the mascot “Juhuuri”. Young guests can explore history through riddles, audio stations, crafts and more.
Looking for thrills? The old prison cells now house two atmospheric escape rooms, complemented by VR adventures in a historical setting.
The castle café and the hidden Aare terrace offer perfect spots to relax – ideal for a coffee break or a glass of wine by the river.
