Alpine climbing course – 4 days
Overview
Intro
Hone your technique and become more independent in the mountains!
This course is aimed at **intermediate to advanced climbers** looking to become more independent on multi-pitch routes and in adventure terrain. **Under the supervision of a certified mountain guide**, participants will refine their techniques for climbing, safety, placing protection, setting belays and abseiling.
### Programme:
* **Day 1 – Leysin:** Review of essential safety techniques, progression on a training multi-pitch route and an introduction to placing removable protection.
* **Day 2 – Leysin:** Advanced training on multi-pitch routes and adventure terrain, including rope management, placing protection and abseiling.
* **Day 3 – Cabane d’Orny:** Ascent to the refuge and practical alpine climbing exercises on granite to master manoeuvres specific to high-altitude mountaineering.
* **Day 4 – Aiguille d’Orny:** Completion of an alpine multi-pitch route to put all the skills acquired into practice under supervised autonomy.
The aim is to **develop your independence and confidence** to climb **alpine multi-pitch routes** safely.

### Equipment to bring
* Climbing harness
* Climbing helmet
* Climbing shoes
* Approx. 12 quickdraws
* Set of nuts and friends
* Rucksack (minimum 35L)
* Good pair of hiking boots
* Clothing suitable for the weather
* Sun cream and a cap
* Sunglasses
* Picnic lunch and a water bottle (minimum 1L)
* Sleeping bag liner for nights in the hut
### Specific self-rescue equipment:
* Braking system/descender (Reverso type)
* 2–3 screw-lock carabiners
* 1–2 sewn slings (120 cm or 60 cm)
* 1 belay sling or adjustable safety lanyard
* Single pulley (optional but useful for simple pulley systems).
* Mechanical ascender (Tibloc, Micro Traxion or Ropemen type)
* Self-locking knot (Prusik, Machard)
* Backup cord (5–6 mm, 1½–2 mm)
