Intro
This year's Engadin Festival once again offers two summer weeks full of exceptional classical concerts.
Astrig Siranossian, cello; Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra; Jan Schultsz, conductor
French cellist Astrig Siranossian will be the guest performer at the opening concert of the 85th Engadin Festival. Her dazzling career began in 2013 with her victory at the International Penderecki Cello Competition. Musical giants such as Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, and Yo-Yo Ma are among her musical partners. The Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, well-known in the Engadin, accompanies her in Camille Saint-Saëns’s sumptuous Cello Concerto. Her CD recording of this work was received with enthusiasm: “Astrig Siranossian engages in a wonderful dialogue with the orchestra, radiating warm timbres and profound depths from the very first moment.”
With Johannes Brahms’s Fourth Symphony, the Pilsen Orchestra, under the baton of its principal guest conductor and festival director Jan Schultsz, performs one of the greatest works of the 19th century.
Program:
Johannes Brahms: Hungarian Dances
Camille Saint-Saëns: Cello Concerto No. 1, Op. 33
Johannes Brahms: Symphony No. 4, Op. 98
