"Minotaur" by Andrei Zvyagintsev
Overview
Intro
Preview screening with co-screenwriter Simon Liachenko in attendance
In Russia in 2022, Gleb lives with his wife Galina and their son in a provincial town. He successfully runs a business. His carefully organized life begins to unravel under the pressure of mounting professional demands and an increasingly unstable world. With the start of the invasion of Ukraine, Gleb loses key employees as they emigrate to the West. At the same time, a government decision forces him to mobilize fourteen of his employees for the “special military operation.” At the same time, Gleb realizes that Galina is cheating on him. His breakdown accelerates, and he begins to react more and more violently toward those around him. Gleb then gets rid of his two problems with the greatest possible detachment (Wikipedia) The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s co-screenwriter, who is coming especially for this event. A reception will follow, hosted by the ValaisRus association. Free admission; donations welcome upon exit. Reserve your ticket on the cinema’s website starting the Tuesday before the screening.
