Sacred places in Valais
Suzana Mistro's documentary explores many of the canton's sacred sites, from prehistory to the present day. It examines the attraction of sites such as the cupstone site at the foot of the Matterhorn, the Abbey of Saint-Maurice, the Basilica of Valère in Sion and the Grand-Saint-Bernard Pass, blending archaeological, historical and cultural perspectives. The film explores how these places have influenced and been influenced by human movements through time, and offers an interdisciplinary reading of sacred places.
The film will be followed by a lecture by Alexandre Levine: "At the clash of Empires, at the frontier of states, who were our ancestors?"
Our three illustrated historical fictions explore the turbulent history of the Middle Ages in the Valais. Our work is based on local sources and archives." Alexandre will be signing the books at the end of the evening.
