Nendaz, situated in the Valais region, is an ideal trekking destination. Valais, with its many 4,000m peaks, is home to spectacular mountain landscapes and offers breathtaking views. This destination is right in the heart of the 4 Valleys and is the perfect base for visitors to discover the region from a different perspective over a three- or four-day trek. There’s nothing like a relaxing and rejuvenating stay in the great outdoors, while enjoying the cosy comforts of a mountain hut far from home.
Trekking is an excellent way to explore nature too. Beginners and experienced hikers alike will be sure to appreciate the most beautiful views of the Valaisan Alps. Whether you come alone, with your family or with friends, this stay in the mountains will give you the chance to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind and spend some time in warm and friendly surroundings.
There is something really unique about spending a night in a mountain hut and enjoying all of the hospitality that it provides. The air is invigorating, the views are incredible and the silence is calming. The warmth of the fire, the smell of burning wood and the gentle sound of the breeze outside add to this warm and friendly feeling. The cosy atmosphere of a mountain hut is a welcome relief after a long day’s hiking. The hut wardens always have a tale ready to tell and enjoy chatting with their guests, who end their day on a high note with a glass of Valaisan white wine or around a campfire. There’s no better way to discover the beauty of the mountains than by spending a peaceful night in a mountain hut, while enjoying the cosy atmosphere there.
This route is suitable for any experienced hiker, as well as families with children aged eight years old and up who are competent hikers. The ideal time to tackle this route is from July to mid-September, depending on the weather conditions.
You can do this as part of a short three-day trek or a long four-day trek. The offer includes two or three nights in various mountain huts with full board (no drinks included), as well as the transfer on the first day from Nendaz to Veysonnaz. Trekkers will also be given a topographic map of the 4 Valleys and a logbook before setting off.
Short trek
Length: 40km
Day 1: Nendaz - Veysonnaz - Essertze mountain hut
Day 2: Essertze mountain hut - St-Laurent mountain hut
Day 3: St-Laurent mountain hut - Haute-Nendaz
Long trek
Length: 53km
Day 1: Nendaz - Veysonnaz - Essertze mountain hut
Day 2: Essertze mountain hut - St-Laurent mountain hut
Day 3: St-Laurent mountain hut - Balavaux mountain hut
Day 4: Balavaux mountain hut - Haute-Nendaz
All you need to do now is pack your bag, lace up your shoes, and off you go!
