Blattenegg–Salwideli Trail
Overview
Intro
In addition to a long, sporty tour, snowshoe hikers can also expect the idyllic landscape of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere on this trail. The mountain panorama of the Rothorn chain and the Schrattenfluh as well as the high moor area Salwideli are real highlights for nature enthusiasts.
Description
From the Schönenboden valley station of the Brienzer Rothorn aerial cableway, the trail first leads along the connecting slope, later uphill in open terrain to the Alp Schlacht. The name is no coincidence: at the end of the 13th century there was an armed conflict between the Obwaldners and the Entlebuchers on today's alpine region. An old wooden panel, which still hangs on the slaughterhouse, bears witness to what happened. Today, the alp at the foot of the Brienzer Rothorn serves as a summer farm and offers an adventure cheese dairy.
The trail continues to the Hinterschwarzenegg hut, from where it goes between the Rothorn chain and the 4-seater chairlift up to Blattenegg. The Blattenegg is also the highest point of the trail. Via Türndlimoos and with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains Rothorn, Schrattenfluh, Tannhorn and Hohgant, the descent is steeper at first and then a little flatter once you reach the Salwideli area. Here the snowshoe hikers can expect an original, untouched natural landscape, quiet and wild at the same time. Under the snow cover there are important and diverse moorlands.
You reach the mountain inn Bergwelten Salwideli via Alp Salwiden. The return to Sörenberg (Rischli) is possible with the Salwideli bus. If you are still in good shape, take the winter hiking trail to Rischli.
