Overview
Intro
Itinerary offering splendid views of Leysin and Lake Geneva. Don't miss ancient village Panex, which is crossed by the famous salt path or, at the end of the trip, the beautiful vineyards and Ollon village.
Description
It’s free to take your bike on the scenic train journey up to Col de Bretaye. With its breathtaking views, the sun terrace provides an enticing welcome as soon as you reach the top. Alternatively, those who want to brave the climb can follow Cycling in Switzerland Route 59 from Villars-sur-Ollon towards Col de la Croix. When crossing Mountainbiking in Switzerland Route 68, continue along this route until you reach Col de Bretaye.
The descent initially follows the Alpine road before switching to a beautiful, mainly simple single trail. The onwards descent offers unique views of Leysin and Lake Geneva. It proceeds along roads and forest trails.
The route goes through the old village of Panex, known for the Salt Trail. After two flat sections – between the Les Tailles quarry and Les Ecovets and between Panex and Ollon – you reach magnificent vineyards and the village of Ollon, which is also worthy of a visit.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
