This bike routes leads to Haldi, which is the sun drenched terrace above Schattdorf. The varied tour leads you along forest roads, alpine paths and single trails past the well «Billentrog», a mythical place with special power.
Description
The incline to Haldi is via the steadily ascending forest road, mostly in the shade. At the hamlet of Figstuel you have the first opportunity to enjoy the fantastic view down to the lake of Uri. Next, the track leads you along gentle flower meadows to Oberfeld, which at 1446 m above sea level is the highest point of this tour.
Here you are surrounded by the mountains and a short rest is recommended, before you tackle the attractive single trail via the forest of Billenwald. The route then leads you through grazing land to «Billentrog», a well with special power. Have a drink from its waters and enjoy the peace and quietness. Onwards at Schwandiberg a 3km detour to the viewing point Schilt can also be recommended. The incline is challenging but you will be rewarded with a fantastic view across the entire Uri valley.
On the way back, you will pass the H«Haldikapelle» - the chapel resembling a Norwegian stave church. To finish the tour you enjoy the impressive downhill ride through wonderful broadleaf forest along the old forest track back to Schattdorf.
